My favorite of Disney's package features of the 1940's is
Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949). The reason for this is simply, the whole movie is cartoony fun at its absolute best.
The following is a poem written for a 1949 issue of Photoplay magazine about the Sleepy Hollow portion of the movie.
-Michael J. Ruhland
"Ichabod and Mr. Toad" is one of my favorite Disney movies, too--especially for this time of year. It works for Hallowe'en but also for Christmas, because the "Mr. Toad" segment has a Christmas scene in it. I believe "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" is the most faithful to its source material of any Disney film. Not only does it follow the story pretty meticulously, Crosby's narration has the same composed, relaxed storytelling qualities as Washington Irving's prose style suggests.
