A Pup Named Scooby-Doo!: For Letter or For Worse (1988)

One of the best episodes of A Pup Named Scooby-Doo!

The Mystery Inc. Gang goes to a taping of their favorite game show, For Letter or For Worse. Things are going very well and Scooby and Shaggy even get called up to be contestants. However when the ghost of the gangster Al Cabone shows up the day might be ruined.

What makes this episode stand out among others is the ghost itself. Usually the ghosts were the weakest part of this series, but this one is just as strong as a classic Scooby villain. The design is fantastic and is equal parts creepy and fun and the use of a 1930's style gangster ghost is perfect. This is also one of the show's strongest mysteries. It take a little bit of figuring out but once you figure it out it makes perfect sense.

What makes A Pup Named Scooby-Doo! such a memorable TV show is the humor and uses of cartoon exaggeration. Both are done here very well. Their way of capturing the ghost, the chase scene, Fred's ramblings (which make even less sense than usual) and Scooby and Shaggy on the game show are all very funny.

All in all a great episode.
