Cowboy Church #34

Hello again my friends and welcome back for another service of Cowboy Church.

We start our musical selection off with the Coal Miner's Daughter, Lorretta Lynn singing the great old hymn, What A Friend We Have In Jesus. Next is Alison Krauss with a lovely version of Jesus Hold My Hand. Backing her up is her most famous and best backing band, a very talented bluegrass group called Union Station. This is followed by the Monroe Brothers with their 1936 upbeat bluegrass recording of When the Saints Go Marching In. Next comes Roy Acuff with his 1942 recording of I'll Reap My Harvest in Heaven. This lovely song was written by Fred Rose, with whom Roy would form the Acuff-Rose publishing company from whom such artists as Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell, Roy Orbison, Don Gibson, The Everly Brothers and more would record for. Like many songs written by Fred Rose this was credited to his sometimes used penname Floyd Jenkins. Next comes the Sons of the Pioneers with their lovely 1937 recording of Lead Me Gently Home. This recording was from the last year Roy Rogers was a member of the group. Next comes Jim Reeves with I'd Rather Have Jesus. This recording comes from his incredible 1962 gospel album We Thank Thee. This is a must listen to album for any gospel music fan. Next comes a song written and song by one of country music's great singer songwriters, Tom T. Hall. From his 1972 album Storyteller here is One More Song For Jesus.

I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil–this is the gift of God. Ecclesiastes 3:12-13Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. James 5:13So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun. Ecclesiastes 8:15Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Philippians 4:8And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17

Thank you for joining me. Come back next week for another service. Until then happen trails to you until we meet again.
