Movie Review: Wonder Park

Michael's Movie Grade: C+

Review: This is one of those movies you will enjoy watching when you see it but it won't take long until you have forgotten all about it.

The story is in many ways the most effective part of this movie. It may be predictable and a tad rushed, but it is certainly likable and effective. There is a simple charm to this story, in how unpretentious and straightforward it presents itself. The emotional scenes are surprisingly pretty effective as well. It is easy to put ourselves in June's shoes and understand what she is going through and the message of not letting go of the positivity inside us when things get tough is an important one and is presented pretty well. The environment of Wonderland is not especially original, but it is pleasant and at times pretty creative. Our main characters of June, Greta, Steve, and June's parents are quite likable.

Unfortunately this film is hampered by much unfunny humor. Humor is all over this film, yet I only laughed once (the joke about the extensional crisis). The jokes weren't ever really bad and there are no cringeworthy ones. Most of all the jokes left no impression whatsoever. They were just kind of bland and predictable.

Again this movie is an enjoyable one, but it is hardly something, you will ever think about again. However sometimes it is nice just to see a pleasant movie and this is one.
