Movie Review: Playmobil: The Movie

Michael's Movie Grade: D-

Playmobil: The Movie is as bland and forgettable as movies get.

This so obviously wants to be The Lego Movie. Unfortunately it has none of that film's charm. Not only is it based around a similar toy, but it contains live action scenes involving two family members who forgot how to play together and an assortment of eccentric side characters. While the live action scene in The Lego Movie was brief but clever, the live action scenes here drag on too long boring the audience. During these scenes the target audience (cartoon fans) will simply be restless waiting to get to the actual animated movie they came for. The eccentric side characters offer no good humor to this film and mostly come across as bland and forgettable. Our main characters are not much better as they offer little for us to connect with. The humor in this film completely misses. I honestly can't see anyone laughing watching this movie. There were little kids in the theatre with me and I never even heard any of them laugh. The storyline is one we have all seen a million times and will see a million times again. Only this time it is told a little more poorly than usual.

The only thing that honestly isn't that bad here is the songs. Don't get me wrong they are nothing great, but they are honestly kind of pleasant.

Yeah this movie is bad and no one is surprised.
