Scooby-Doo! and the Alien Invaders (2000)

Coming after the two most popular Scooby-Doo! movies (Scooby-Doo! on Zombie Island. Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost), this film often gets overlooked. While it may not be as great as the last two films, this is a darn good movie in its own right. Like those previous two movies, Scooby-Doo! and the Alien Invaders does a really good job of staying true to the formula while also twisting it around enough to feel fresh. The Mystery Inc. Gang once again finds themselves in a town full of strange characters and they have to solve a mystery involving monsters. Yet added to this are romantic interests for Shaggy and Scooby. As corny and as needless as this might seem, it is handled very well. The romantic interests are probably some of the strongest supporting characters in any of these Scooby-Doo! movies. While they have a lot in common with Shaggy and Scooby, there is also enough different about them to make them their own characters. This could have simply been done as a joke and to be honest Scooby-Doo! fans would have been fine with that, yet this movie makes them much more than a joke. The girls believably bring out the best in Shaggy and Scooby and there is a surprising amount of emotion here that really works. Other supporting characters here, while not as real as the girls are quite a bit of fun. I really enjoy Lester (the man who is a very clever take off on that guy in alien movies who was abducted) and the bickering waitress and cook at the dinner. While this is a Scooby-Doo! movie and there are twists that you see coming from a mile a while there is also (no spoilers) a twist that comes as an actual surprising towards the end and it feels legitimately earned.

This is a very well done movie and I recommend it to all Scooby-Doo! fans.
